Meet the editor

Managing editor Pam Swanborough lives near Ballarat, Victoria and has been reading books ever since she could read. Early work included editing the school newspaper, the school magazine, and maybe just a touch of the school graffiti… shhh. No, really: shhh.

Her first Saturday job was in Hall’s Bookstore, Prahran. Most of her earnings went straight back to Mr Hall via the second-hand books section, and all her tea-breaks were spent in unauthorised roaming through the abandoned print works on the top floor of the Victorian-era warehouse, stepping through treasures—broken type, scattered grips, and the haunt-marks of 30-years-dry spilt ink— and hoping Norman the supervisor didn’t catch her again. Pam never actually got locked in after closing, although not for want of trying. She’s been wanting to get back there for some time…

Pam has worked variously as editor or contributor in enterprises ranging from a onetime Castlemaine newspaper, to university publications and web presences in Australia and the UK, including publisher of an international creative hub for a well-known climate action group. She is currently studying at RMIT and her work is sampled on her personal website: P A Swanborough. Pam has been published in Cardigan Street and Victorian Writer.
