Psychological Thrillers:

How To Write A Page-Turner

with Lyn Yeowart

1 September – 3 September 2023 Queenscliff, Victoria

“Page-turning thriller” is THE genre of the 2020s! It seems readers (and therefore publishers!!) can’t get enough of them, but to get that coveted publishing deal, you need a manuscript that’s ingenious and well plotted…and of course well written. So if your first or next novel’s going to be a psychological thriller, this energetic, information-packed workshop is for you.

You’ll learn key elements of a thriller, how to think about and refine your novel’s structure, and how to hone your writing so your novel is sharp, fast and unputdownable…we’ll be covering everything from timelines to twists!

You’ll also participate in presenter-led ‘Shut Up and Write’ sessions where you’ll practice what you’ve learnt (this is a writing retreat after all!), and you can schedule an optional one-on-one discussion with Lyn to get personalised advice and feedback.

If you’re ready to take your psychological thriller to the next level … and you want to have fun and meet other writers, book your spot now.

Lyn Yeowart is a consulting writer and editor with 30+ years’ experience, and the author of the award-winning and critically acclaimed psychological thriller The Silent Listener. In addition to winning the 2022 Indie Book Award for Debut Fiction, her novel was shortlisted/longlisted for four other national awards in Australia, published internationally (including the UK, where it was a finalist in the People’s Book Prize), and is currently being developed into a feature film.

As well as having significant experience helping writers hone their skills and develop new ones, Lyn holds a Bachelor of Education (Linguistics and Literature), a Post-Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing and a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne.

An energetic and passionate trainer, mentor and manuscript assessor, she genuinely loves helping people achieve their writing goals.

She’s currently working on her second novel, which is going to be “another compelling literary psychological thriller” …because that’s what it says in her publishing contract, and who is she to argue with Penguin?
