Workshop FAQs

I’m just beginning, does it matter if I haven’t started my book yet? No! You’re welcome at any stage of your writing journey, from “thinking about an idea I have” to being well under way.

I want to attend all three of the Writing Basics workshops; can I get a discount? Yes, you can book a bundled ticket that covers all three sessions and saves you $40.

Is the location easy to access? The CWA Hall is just off the A1 in the centre of Terang. There are cafes and two IGA stores nearby; the station is a ten minute walk. The hall is steps-free, has a ramp entrance, on-site toilet and disabled toilet, and kitchen facilites. Parking is on-street at the front of the hall or in a space to the side.

What’s provided on the workshop? I will provide refreshments, and the hall is nicely fitted out with tables and chairs. After the workshop, a resources list will be sent by email.

What should I bring? Please bring writing materials! This is an interactive workshop and you are encourgaed to have a go at different writing prompts and exercises. So bring a notebook and pens, or a tablet/laptop with power leads; make sure your electronic device is fully charged in case there are not enough power points (a mobile phone wouldn’t be adequate).

What if I’m shy about my writing? Most of us are, too. You are invited to join in the exercises and discussions, to get the most from the sessions. But these will be relaxed, fun sessions and no-one is under any pressure. Just enjoy yourself 🙂
